Highlights of this 6-day tour include:
- Tozeur, the Mountain Oases of Tamerza, Chebika & Mides.
- A half day 4×4 excursion to the Star Wars film locations near Tozeur, including Ong el Jemal (Mos Espa), Camel’s Neck Rock, Star Wars Canyon, and the Lars Homestead.
- Ksar Haddada, Ksar Ouled Soltane, the ksars of Medenine.
- The Sidi Driss Hotel and other troglodyte homes around Matmata.
- Sidi Djemour, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s home, the “Cantina” on Djerba, with a tour of Houmt Souk & the village of ErRiadh.

ITINERARY
- Day 1: Pick up at the airport. Tour of Djerba Island, including Houmt Souk, the village ErRiadh, & 3 Star Wars film locations: the Cantina, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s home & Sidi Djemour.
- Day 2: Djerba – Salt Lake – Star Wars Canyon (Sidi Bouhlil) – Tozeur: walking tour of old Tozeur & the oasis.
- Day 3: Mountain Oases of Tamerza, Chebika & Mides. Afternoon: trip by 4×4 to see Ong el Jemal (Mos Espa), Camel’s Neck Rock, Nefta, La Grande Dune. Sunset at the Lars Homestead on the Salt Lake.
- Day 4: Tozeur – the Berber village of Toujane – the troglodyte homes of Matmata & Hotel Sidi Driss. Overnight in a hotel/B&B of your choice, with troglodyte rooms.
- Day 5: Matmata – Ksar Haddada – Ksar Ouled Soltane – the ksars of Medenine – return to Djerba & overnight.
- Day 6: Transfer to the airport.
NOTE:
This tour can begin from Tunis, Tozeur or Djerba. If starting in Tunis, flights to/from Djerba and Tunis will need to be added.
Optional add-on: Spend a day and a night in a tent camp in the Sahara Desert. Enjoy a camel or ATV ride through the desert.
Tunis Shore Excursion
If you have just one day to explore Tunis, this is the tour for you!
- Tunis and the surrounding areas abound in the rich history of the Carthaginian, Roman and Arabic eras, with ruins and monuments everywhere. We can visit the many sites of old Carthage, including Byrsa Hill, where the Carthaginian Empire started, as well as the nearby Roman Villas and Baths. Other optional stops include the Punic Port, Colosseum, Cisterns and the Oceanographic Museum.
- Next, we’ll visit the Medina, Tunis’ old town. We’ll browse and shop the various souks, while also seeing many mosques and other historic structures. If you wish, we can also attend a Berber Rug exposition.
- We will also stop in Sidi Bou Said, a beautiful little town situated on the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. Here, we’ll enjoy the town’s charm, unique architecture and spectacular views. We will also visit the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace, a fascinating museum of Mediterranean music.

- The mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza, famous for their amazing views of the Atlas Mountains
- Tozeur, renowned for its unique architecture.
- Douz, gateway to the Sahara. Here, you can have a camel ride or a quad ride to enjoy the desert.
- Matmata, the Berber town famous for its troglodyte dwellings dug into the mountains.

Sahara Desert Tents
Experience the wonders of the Sahara Desert by night!
On this trip, we will truly experience the magic of the desert at night, by spending a night in a tent camp. In addition, we will also discover some other major highlights of Tunisia, the Roman Amphitheater of El Jem, the Berber dwellings of Matmata and the mountain oasis of Chebika.
ITINERARY
Day 1
- Departure to El Jem, site of a spectacular Roman Amphitheater dating from the 3rd century.
- Stop for lunch.
- Drive to Douz via Matmata .
- Visit Sidi Driss, filming location for many scenes from Star Wars.
- Arrival in Douz and overnight in tent.
Day 2
- Camel ride back to town.
- Drive to Tozeur, crossing the impressive salt lake Chott El Jerid.
- Arrival in Tozeur and check-in.
- In the afternoon, head across the dunes by 4×4 to visit Ong Jemal (the camel’s neck), another Star Wars filming location.
- Overnight in Tozeur
Day 3
- Drive to the mountain oasis towns of Chebika and Tamerza. Enjoy a walking tour through the palm trees and natural springs.
- Stop at the holy city of Kairouan, famous for the Great Mosque and Berber rugs.
- Return to Tunis.

- Day 7 – Sousse Medina and Monastir. Return to the hotel or transfer to the airport.

- Day 1: Transfer to the hotel. Night in Tunis.

- Day 10: Transfer to the airport.

I am originally from the south and currently live in Tunis. Having conducted tours in every corner of Tunisia, I can add unique experiences and insights of our people and culture to your adventure.
